Makeup Effects / Prosthetics        Back Home

The term Makeup Effects is a broad term usually referring to the alteration of a persons face or body through the use of prosthetic appliances.  Most often, prosthetics are used to alter a persons face to achieve a desired effect.  Prosthetics may range from a simple nose or eye bag to a complete head and body makeup.  It all depends on the character.  Prosthetics today are made from a variety of materials, including foamed latex,  gelatin and silicone.  Foamed latex is still the most commonly used material because of it's ease of use and extreme flexibility.
